GRID is an online screenwriting awards for emerging screenwriters.

About Us

We started GRID with a simple belief: some of the most exciting scripts out there are sitting unread on the laptops of writers who haven't had their break yet. Getting a script read is one of the hardest parts of starting out. GRID exists to change that, by giving new writers a place to be read, recognised and celebrated.

Why "GRID"?

GRID was born in Milton Keynes, a town famous for its grid of roads that connect everything together. That's what we want to do for new writers: connect them with readers, recognition and the next step in their careers. It's also where every race begins, on the starting grid. Wherever you're writing from, this is your chance to get on the grid.

What we do

Each year we open submissions in 18 award categories, from feature screenplays and TV pilots to short scripts, first scripts and student work.

Because GRID is entirely online, any writer can enter from anywhere in the world without travel costs or barriers. Our winners are celebrated here on our website, with an official GRID laurel and award certificate to help their work get noticed. We are also exploring more ways we can help writers who submit to the festival get their projects made.
